Objective
To achieve a reduction in carbon emissions of 20% and CSH level 3 using on-site renewables

Specific design issues
The Timber roof was not capable of taking the load of a standard  Solar PV module system.

Solution
We specified Axter’s Amorphous Silicon thin film modules. As part of the bitumen roof membrane the Axter modules are installed flush and flat on the roof; they can even can be walked on. They are lightweight and are ideal for flat or unfavorable pitches where there may be some shading. This bespoke  combined roofing and PV solution makes sound economic sense.

Because the design and build contractor had not designed enough space in the risers or plant room for inverters, South Facing installed them in a steel cabinet on the roof.
