Goodbye FIT’s, hello sustainable business?
It is of no surprise that the Government has now confirmed a significant reduction to the Feed in Tariff (FiT) says Clive Collison Managing Director of PV solar energy specialists, South Facing .
“Of course, Government incentives have helped to fuel growth within the industry and demonstrated the very real advantages of PV technology to a much wider audience, but it has always been obvious that such incentives would have limited duration.
PV specialists like ourselves were already enjoying success long before the introduction of the FiT and, today, we are in an even stronger position as PV is now not only a proven technology, but is also widely acknowledged as a highly cost-effective source of sustainable energy.”
‘The flurry of activity before the FiT reductions in December has already taken effect here in the UK – as is the case in Germany before every annual tariff reduction’ We regret the timing but we believe that a more mature market will emerge.
As has always been the case, South Facing’s focus remains firmly on our building contractor and commercial clients and we believe that we have the sound foundations that are necessary for sustained growth in the renewables sector long after any incentives such as the FiT.
In particular, in view of ever-rising energy prices and the performance of well-planned solar projects, it is now clear that PV delivers not only a very effective return on investment, but also a sustainable and reliable source of energy concious clients.”
